Resilience: Bermudians of African Descent

SATURDAYS at 2PM FROM NOVEMBER 14 – DECEMBER 12

In 1616, Bermuda became the first English colony to use enslaved Africans, and slavery would continue on this island until Emancipation on August 1, 1834. This tour focuses on the stories of people of African descent. Walk-in their footsteps and learn of their rebellion, resistance, and resilience.

Over 90 minutes, you will:

• Learn about the life of Joseph Rainey and Pilot James Darrell.
• Visit the ‘Burial Ground for Slaves and Free Blacks’ and other spots along the African Diaspora Heritage Trail
• Explore centuries-old buildings, including Tucker House and St. Peter’s Church.
• Discover Black-owned businesses in St. George’s today.

Adults: $45 / Youth + Seniors $35

Tour departs store at 2pm and ends near St. George’s Town Square at 3.30.
